One Way Links
Everyone seems to think that one way links are the holy grail to top rankings. It is more than that. Ranking at the top of the search results is more than just getting links? Top rankings is a comparative effort. Of course this means on-site optimization. In todays post Penguin update world, knowing the right metrics is a trick in itself. The only one who knows the true optimization metrics is Google of course. But is this impossible to figure out. Not in the least. As any one knows, optimization is about a mathematical formula. This is a sum of weighted values. The weighted values pertain to the different tags and content and the significance of these tags. You have you have to do this first before you go about gettijng links one way.
The basis or schema , the core origins of search engine logic is founded in the library system. The way they sorted books was using the Dewey Decimal system. This allowed librarians to store books in shelves just like pages are stored in server storage for retreval. Finding books librarians resorted to the basic search method of using Index cards. Now if you look at how index cards are constructed, the very same basic methodology is used in, guess what, indexing web pages. Did you ever wonder why Google refers to its data base as the Main Index?
Links One Way
So links one way is just part of the over all search ranking approach. The problem lies with people believing that it is about scamming the searh engines. IT IS NOT. It is about satisfying the search engine best practices and quality guidelines. If you look at SEO as a means of producing quality pages and websites the satisfy the quality guidelines then links one way will help in ranking your site.
Back to the Index Card concept, if you look at the elements of the index card, thjey are the very same elements in a web page construction. The very schema of web pages is the same as an index card. The symantec or language structure of a web page is based on an index card and a book. From the title tag (book name), met description (summary or compendium), meta keywords (keywords) all are index card elements. Then you get into the book itself and you have chapters (h1) sub chapters (h2) and so on. So getting links one way can help if all these other elements are satisfied.
One Way Link
So not only are you the author of the page just like the author of a book, but you are also the librarian. The main misconception is that if you stuff a pge enough it will rank. That was not the whole spirit of the world wide web and search engines. But as critical as it is to business people now seek link one way as a way to artificially rank themselves. Link one way was not originally part of the whol picture. But now link one way seems to be in everyone's radar.

In the bigger scheem of life the whole idea is to work within the guidelines. Do that and your site will stand the test of time. Fail to do so and your site will be hit by one Google update after another. And all you end up doing is patching your site hoping to pull it out of the toilet. How may times do you have to pull rabits out of your hat to save your website. Wouldn't it be so cool for your website to just be stable in the search results. The best sites that satisfy these guidelines stand the test of time. No matter how many updates pass, they are rock solid.
So before you spend a lot of time thinking of ways to get around the rules, learn the rules, follow the rules. Build a site that is for humans. With content that is compelling. Stuff that people will enjoy reading. Not just garbage like all the RSS article spinners do. All they did was create junk, and then spun the junk and thousands of people re-published their junk. The whole search indexes were starting to fill up with garbage. I don't blame the search engines for wanting to rid themselves of this rubish. They think that these links were hot stuff. All they really were garbage links. And the search engines spanked these link schemes was to kill the links by depricating the rubbish content.
