Everyone seems to think that one way links are the holy grail to top rankings. It is more than that. Ranking at the top of the search results is more than just getting links? In todays post Penguin update world, knowing the right metrics is a trick in itself.The only one who knows the true optimization metrics is Google of course. But is this impossible to figure out. So before you spend a lot of time thinking of ways to get around the rules, learn the rules, follow the rules. Build a site that is for humans. With content that is compelling. Stuff that people will enjoy reading. Not just garbage like all the RSS article spinners do. All they did was create junk, and then spun the junk and thousands of people re-published their junk. The whole search indexes were starting to fill up with garbage. I don't blame the search engines for wanting to rid themselves of this rubish. They think that these links were hot stuff. All they really were garbage links. And the search engines spanked these link schemes was to kill the links by depricating the rubbish content.
Can links help you? Yes links can. Links will help your popularity metrics. Links will help your ank for a lot of terms your page is not even optimized for. So how to get a link from another website. Well you can link bait. Getting links this way is one way of getting links. We have always belived a link is a link is a link. Does not matter where the link comes from. Does a link from edu or gov help? Many belive such a link carries more weight than a .com or .net. Why would one link be better than another link?
